Getting Here

Just a reminder – talks are 14:30-22:00.  We still get lots of snow in March so allow for delays and arrive well in advance of your scheduled talk session.   Steamboat Springs is 6732′ (2052m) above sea level.  Altitude sickness (see below)  is a real concern.  We suggest arriving at least a day before your talk to adjust to the elevation.

Yampa Regional Airport, Hayden (Airport code: HDN)  is located 30 minutes from Steamboat Springs.  The Denver Airport (DEN also called DIA) is 3 hours 15 minutes away.  We recommend taking a van shuttle from the airport.  We have group discounted rates for both Storm Mountain Express and Go Alpine.

If driving from Denver, check the road conditions on or call 511.  You can check the road cameras – especially by the Eisenhower Tunnel.  Weather can be drastically different between Denver and Steamboat Springs.

Once in Steamboat Springs, a car is not necessary.  The town has a free bus, the Steamboat Springs Transit (SST).  There is a bus transit center stop right outside the Sheraton Resort (by the pool).  The hotel also has a free evening shuttle to/from downtown.

Storm Mountain Express only serves Hayden airport

Altitude Sickness
To prevent altitude sickness, drink plenty of water, bring headache medicine, avoid excessive alcohol and caffeine.  Most people have just mild symptoms such as headache and trouble sleeping.  Consider arriving a day early to adjust.  TIP – stay hydrated on the plane, drink 8oz upon arrival.  The hotel rooms have free water bottles — take one with you everywhere you go!
